It's so sad...they shouldn't have misunderstood your intention like that... And if you're not allowed to cry, they shouldn't make you cry either... Also, remember God is not like us humans. He's much kinder. If you want to cry, and let it out, do it. It won't bring any bad luck. People around you may not understand you, but God does..

Heyy..u can vent out its ok. I get it... you didn't think too much, and u did it without knowing...and there is nothing wrong in that... ur mother might be someone who follows these things and there is nothing wrong in that too. it is just two people with two different perspectives. it is her concern that something bad will happen again and its just a motherly thing.. Try not to take it to heart. It's okay; it will get better.

it must've been a disheartening experience. for what its worth, as a telugu girl myself, i dont even know that such a thing existed lol. I researched on google about why such superstition arose. Apparently, this is what it said: Before electricity, rural Indian households relied heavily on the daily cycle of milk. • Curd was set during the day to be used as a starter culture (jaaman or khatta) for the next day's batch. • Giving away your curd late in the evening meant sacrificing your starter, leaving your own household without a way to ferment milk the next morning. • On festive days like Dhanteras, families needed maximum resources to cook sweets and feasts for Diwali. "Goddess Lakshmi will leave the house" became a powerful cultural deterrent used by elders to prevent family members from carelessly giving away essential kitchen resources on a busy festival eve. looks like its a silly saying thats not too relevant in today's times. So, dont worry too much. Its not your fault. Maybe, you can tell your mom the root of this superstition and help her know that your ghar's lakshmi is safe. Parents, especially desi ones, can sometimes crash out over such things. It may seem trivial and unncessary to us sometimes, but they believe in it. So, we gotta understand that. that said, your feelings are totally valid. sometimes the words spoken by our loved ones hurt us. im making assumptions here, but i think in this case, her words have stemmed from worry and not anger at you. i really hope you feel better and that u and your mom can sort this out. Hope you and your fam have a great Diwali !!!
