“I have a friend who’s been in a committed relationship for six months, and it’s her first one. We’re a trio, and she shares her problems with both of us. Actually theirs are small fights and are for some silly reasons.i think mistly due to small ego problems. She loves watching anime and sometimes stays up until 4 a.m., maybe once a week. Her boyfriend knows this and told her not to watch so late, suggesting she stop by midnight or he wouldn’t talk or message her. She insisted she’d watch past midnight and ended up watching until 12:07 a.m., but told him she went past 12 without mentioning the exact time. He assumed she stayed up until 3 or 4 a.m. and stopped talking to her. They don’t have much direct contact since only a few people know about their relationship, and they mostly message, occasionally meeting at church. She told us all this and asked why she should stop when it’s been her routine for years, even before he came into her life. She didn’t message him for a while, but eventually did, and although he saw it, he didn’t reply. We couldn’t really blame either of them.”

I don’t think it’s either one’s fault. He probably thought his words have no effect on her and that she doesn’t listen to him. He probably thinks he is taken for granted. While for her, staying past midnight for watching anime isn’t a crime but he might interpret this with something else. I do not think this matter was a huge deal but maybe he overthinks a lot. For partners like him, it might be better to tell white lies now and then just to avoid little arguments turning into something big.
