people have always been this way. the fact is, the general public views knowledge not as a liberator and a saviour of mankind, but simply as a vehicle towards their insatiable hedonism. The reason that it may feel as if this sentiment is on an upwards trajectory is the increasing interconnectedness of our world, which, while a blessing in many ways, can also be a curse.

that's a really big subject in my opinion. I think that we wen't so far in the wrong/bad direction that turning around would be a huge effort for everyone regarding their way of life as much as the mindset we live in. and also people are so afraid of losing the few things they managed to get a hand on. so they follow the easy way, the most comfortable way
