Someone once asked...

Why do I find it hard to let go of self hate when it is easy for me to forgive others?

Someone answered with kindness...

We are often our own worst critics; holding ourselves to impossible standards that we never would expect from others. There are many possibilities for why this might be. Perhaps it's the same pressure experienced in childhood and knowing the hurt it causes, you actively shield others from it. However, knowing the "why?" doesn't immediately address how you feel about yourself now. So, look deeply into yourself, but do not lose sight of the present. Seek to understand the hurt, but do not let yourself dwell there. Healing begins with acceptance and, dear stranger from the digital ether, you should know that you are worthy of kindness, gentleness and love.
