Someone once asked...

Why do I feel like I don't belong anywhere?

Someone answered with kindness...

A traveling monk once told me he'd lived in six countries and felt like a guest in every single one. I asked if that troubled him. He said, "It did, until I realized I was looking for a place to belong to. I should have been looking for people." Belonging was never really about geography, or even about fitting a group's mold. It's about being known accurately by a few people, not accepted broadly by many. If you've never found the place, stop looking for a place. Look for the two or three people who don't require you to translate yourself.
