Someone once asked...
Someone answered with kindness...
A mother once told me she felt selfish taking one hour a week for herself. One hour, out of a hundred and sixteen. I asked her what she taught her children by disappearing entirely into everyone else's needs. She hadn't thought of it that way — that self-neglect isn't a gift you give others, it's a debt you eventually make them pay, in worry, in guilt, in a model of love that has no room for rest. Choosing yourself sometimes isn't the opposite of love. It's what keeps you able to love at all.
