Someone once asked...

When did I stop feeling like myself?

Someone answered with kindness...

A woman once asked me this, and then immediately apologized for not having a specific date. I told her that was the wrong thing to look for anyway. Losing yourself rarely happens on a single day. It happens the way a path gets overgrown — not from one storm, but from years of not walking it. Every time you said yes when you meant no, every opinion you swallowed to keep the peace, every version of you that got postponed "for now" — that's the erosion. You didn't vanish all at once. You were slowly outvoted by other people's preferences, including, eventually, your own habit of choosing them.
