Someone once asked...

“We all know that power belonged to superpowers from ancient days till start of 21st century, those who owned land, armies, weapons and factories, but now the world has changed dramatically. Today, big tech giants hold the absolute power to control narratives and govern the world through digital platforms, AI models, search engines, and data networks. These modern tech elites, or cloudalists, exert control explicitly using algorithms to dictate how billions of people perceive and interpret reality, in fact, they are the ones transforming reality itself using data inputs. In these private digital spaces, massive amounts of user data consisting of millions of data points are mined, attention is commodified, human psychology is exploited, and rules are imposed without democratic oversight. Here, you either become a product or are forced to conform to the digital rules in which you have no say. The main dilemma is that while using these digital platforms, users feel free online without realizing they have become algorithmically dependent. This slowly blurs the line between independent choices and digital manipulation, ultimately eroding both physical and moral agency. As mentioned earlier, these digital platforms work on algorithms. Remember, these algorithms are written by humans, and unlike old power brokers who operated through explicit command structures, these algorithms are designed to guide human behavior through personalized feeds, recommendations, search rankings, and notifications. Consequently, this algorithmic curation dictates what information gets highlighted, influencing public discussions and even manipulating voter opinions without people's will or scrutiny. These digital tactics have the tendency to change the political environment; interestingly, formal voting rights lose their meaning when underlying digital systems invisibly control the information voters rely on. The same applies to every aspect of human life, from fashion to passion, and from medicine to treatment, and so on. It is important that we recognize and understand the basic working principles of these digital platforms by developing self-reflection, moral clarity, and intellectual grounding, as well as spreading awareness and applying critical thinking to spot covert digital manipulation. We need to push for public governance reforms and civic input to halt this push towards total technological control. This requires strict digital regulation, radical transparency, and public accountability over digital infrastructure. We humans are inherently vulnerable, and we cannot allow anyone to exploit our vulnerabilities for financial gain or political misuse. Technology must therefore be reoriented to protect human dignity and share knowledge, rather than handing absolute power to tech elites to exploit our data. Only when we build a public-centered technology can we reclaim our digital sovereignty, ensuring that technology remains a tool for human progress rather than an instrument of enslavement.”
