Someone once asked...

“The biggest dream of my life is to become a movie director, and now I'm 19, graduating because my father doesn't support me in films. I'm writing scripts that I want to make, fragment by fragment. But the problem is I have become too obsessed with this dream, and because of this, I'm feeling nervous: what if it doesn't come in the way I want it to in the next 10 years? I don't know how to connect with the industry.”

Go after it and keep at it. You’re very young and have every opportunity within your reach; graduate, work, and save money so you can become independent when the time is right. Your father will eventually come to understand—but even if he doesn’t, do it anyway. We only have one life, and we can’t live it according to what others want. If this is truly your dream and you work hard at it, you’ll find a way to break into the industry, make connections, and so on. As you grow older and stay focused, you’ll achieve things and meet people who bring you closer to opportunities you couldn’t have even imagined when you were younger. Good luck—give it everything you’ve got!
