The 9-5 schedule was designed for mundane, repetitive factory work. A common or typical worker could be expected to pull a lever, or assemble a widget for eight hours. As society became more complicated and complex, those same eight hours are no longer of the same quality. Most professionals would be lucky to complete four and a half hours of "actual work". The human brain simply cannot keep up high-quality cognition for eight hours straight. This fact is not admitted anywhere, so society is structured around an eight hour working day, with four hours spent in non-work related activities, such as lunches, meetings, bathroom breaks, and so on. There's nothing wrong with you. There's something wrong with the way society is structured. You should find yourself exceptional that you thrive in such a broken system.

The trees lose their leaves in winter. The salmon swim upstream to spawn. The corals come alive with the tide. Life ebbs and flows. Why do you presume you shouldn't?

When you stop lying to yourself. You already know all of the answers. Take what you know is your own advice. Nobody was meant for a 9-5. We do what we must!

Humans are very adaptable, and yet everyone dreams of a passive income and more meaningful work. Give yourself time to pause and meditate, and express gratitude, but don't let your dreams become memes.

I only had to do that to meet expectations when I was still a bit green. It got better with experience. I now exceed expectations without trying. For a little while, that then led to crippling anxiety that I was wasting my life without a challenge. Then I realized I was free *and* had a badass paycheck. I accepted this new reality and life's been great ever since. Don't listen to people who shit all over 9-5. They're trying to keep you down.
