“So, there's this guy who's been my best friend for almost five years now. We're so fucking close. We share everything, we've cried together, and he's someone I can genuinely be myself around. He proposed to me in tenth standard, but I rejected him because I had a major crush on someone else. I did have some feelings for him too, but I always valued our friendship more and didn't want to risk losing it. After that, he went through a difficult phase, but eventually we became even closer as friends. He indirectly expressed his feelings a few more times, but we settled into our friendship. There was no flirting, no romantic involvement, nothing. We shared our problems, happiness and everything in between. And then came his girlfriend. Obviously, he has every right to be in a relationship, but things became complicated. I got confused and started pushing him away, constantly telling him to leave me. The person who always comforted him suddenly became the reason he was crying, and that makes me feel terrible. I always maintained my boundaries and never encouraged anything beyond friendship. Our conversations were about the most normal things. He'd send me pictures, I'd help him choose the best ones, suggest songs and listen to whatever was happening in his life. That's literally what our friendship was. But now I do have some feelings for him, maybe a little more than I used to. Even so, I'm trying to distance myself because I don't want to interfere in his relationship. I'm not asking him to choose me over her, but does respecting someone's relationship mean I have to pretend five years of friendship never mattered? Bhai, five years is not a joke. You can't just turn someone who's been part of your everyday life into a stranger overnight. And the worst part is that I'm constantly questioning myself. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm selfish, but I never deliberately created this situation. I don't want to be someone's confusion or the reason they fight with their partner. I just wanted my best friend to remain my best friend. Honestly, I'm so emotionally exhausted that I don't even want a relationship or new friendships right now. I just want to distance myself from everyone for a while. I've reached a point where I'm tired of explaining myself. I know what my intentions were, and I know the boundaries I maintained. Sometimes, you don't lose people because you stop caring about them. You lose them because circumstances change, and you don't know how to fit into their lives anymore.”

i know this is tough, just from reading this, i'm confused, but i'll try to give u some advice. this might be hard, but talk to him. don't distance you relationship without a proper explanation, you guys are gonna regret it. talk it out, and before you tell him, you like him, make sure you do, it might be confusion or what not. but just make sure. i really hope you guys become best friends again, talk to him and work together rather assuming you know whats best for each other, cause it might not be. best wishes from me
