“So my convocation is on 10th. I’m not really very exited about graduation as my grades are not that good. Its average. Sad thing is my university doesn’t hand out certificates to all the students on stage. Only the gold medalists gets to do that. So I dont basically have a occasion there. My parents live about 5-6 hours away. i have told them to come but havent forced it. My father said he has duties and may not be able to make it. If I ask strongly I know they will come. But for what? Just to see me in a gown? The hassles of journeys, their health and a long tiring programme where I dont even get on stage. Still somewhere it makes me kinda sad that they wont be here. Its like on one side there is logic and on the other emotion and I dont know which one to choose. I really dont want them to endure a long back and forth journey and sitting long hours in a programme that is otherwise boring as well. But somehow the sadness is creeping in”

The stage isn't the main goal :) you graduating is and to be honest that is very difficult so congratulations first of all and having your parents by your side on a big day even if you don't go on stage would feel nice :)
