what's haunting you is not him exactly, it's the possibility. Maybe your brain found him a little interesting when you guys met for the first time and then your conscious instantly went "No, this is wrong", this fueled the possibility more. The same happened with me when I was in a relationship, I chose to divert my mind and kept reminding myself that I'm very happy in my current situation and don't need another person. It might take a while but you'll be able to do it.
