If he acts like he likes you back, that's a good sign but you don't have to figure it all out right now or do some big confession. You can just keep being close and maybe flirt a little more and see how he reacts. Like, does he get jealous? Does he always want to hang? That tells you a lot.

You don't have to rush to "ask him out" if you're not ready. You can literally just tell him you like him a little more than a friend when it feels safe. And if it doesn't work out, real ride or dies don't end over that. It might be weird for like 3 days then it's normal again.
