Someone once asked...

relationships of all kinds seem to be distancing themselves during mental health issues. is this revealing the truth about our relationship or a truth about being honest about where i am?

Someone answered with kindness...

Relationships depend on an implicit contract of mental and behavioral compatibility. Mental health issues compromise that contract. Translated: mental health issues make people feel you as a stranger, and they begin to detach. It is instinctive. Not their bad, not yours, just human nature. It sucks. You will learn to deal with it (you have to). But you will also find humans that can look at you and see you no matter the contract and the relationship. They will make you feel recognized, even if relationship with them is just a casual crossing. There is life beyond the grip of the social contract. And it is a wonderful life actually.
