“It’s been almost a week since my girlfriend broke up with me, and honestly, I’m struggling more than I let people see. During the day, I somehow manage to keep myself occupied and feel relatively okay, but the moment night comes, everything hits me all over again. I miss her so much that sometimes I can’t even fall asleep.
The hardest part is that I know how she treated me. She was emotionally distant, constantly avoided conversations, ghosted me, and made even the smallest things feel like too much to ask for. I was always the one initiating conversations, making plans, asking to meet, and trying to keep the relationship alive. It felt like I was constantly begging for the bare minimum from someone I genuinely loved.
She didn’t leave me for someone else or anything like that. She was just so focused on her career and her own life that I often felt like I barely had a place in it. And despite everything, I kept trying, kept understanding, and kept making excuses because I loved her.
We were together for three years. Three whole years of memories, attachment, routines, and imagining a future together. And somehow, the way she walked away made me feel like I was disposable, like everything we shared meant so little to her.
What makes this even harder is that I still love her deeply. I miss someone who made me feel unwanted. I find myself longing for the same person I had to beg for attention, affection, and time. I know I deserved better, and I know I shouldn’t have to convince someone to love me the way I love them, but knowing that doesn’t make the pain disappear.
Everyone keeps telling me to focus on myself, work on becoming better, hit the gym, study, and move forward. I understand all of that, but right now, I genuinely don’t know how. I feel stuck between knowing I deserve more and desperately missing the person I wanted everything to work out with.
I don’t just miss her. I miss what we had, what I thought we were going to have, and the person I thought she would be with me. And honestly, I don’t know how to let go of three years of loving someone who made leaving feel so easy.”
