Is it valid to cut off my family because they don't accept my boyfriend. the only reason why is because he's another nationality. that's it. also my parents were emotionally abusive and neglective when I was little. I just feel like they have given me (financially) the best life so I feel guily. and I've been hiding the relationship for almost a year because the last time I mentioned him (about 6 months ago) my mom threw a knife at me.

i reckon it comes down to love and reliability, do you love each other are you going to marry this boyfriend ? are you starting your own family with this boyfriend ? really think about your long term life without your family and this boyfriend. if you do choose the boyfriend and astrange yourself from family periodicly try yo check in with them and reconnect under your own terms nothings forever and grandkids change people
