i do too. you stuck with your family for the rest of your life so it can be worse if a conversation goes bad. you also pick who your friends are, so theyre more likely to understand you. i dont understand how some families will defend one another no matter what.

It's definitely normal. You subconsciously built a safe space more with your said closest friend or bestie but that doesn't mean you don't love your family. You feel most comfortable around your built family than your blood family and there's nothing wrong about it. Feel blessed and grateful that you found your closest friend or bestie as your safety net to share things with no fear of judgment with in life.
