Someone once asked...

“I'm in my early twenties, and lately I've been feeling like I'm falling behind in life. People around me seem to be getting jobs, building careers, experiencing relationships, making friends and enjoying their twenties. Meanwhile, I feel like I'm stuck in the same place, making plans but rarely following through. I have dreams and ambitions, but sometimes I don't have the motivation to work towards them. I feel lonely even when I'm surrounded by people. Is this a normal phase of your twenties? Have any of you experienced a period where you felt like life was happening to everyone except you? What helped you get out of it?”

Someone answered with kindness...

hey, i completely get you. im 20 and i absolutely do feel like this, people around me are working, getting jobs and internships and i haven't done anything in my life to account for. and i do have big ambitions and passions, which ive never told anyone about because, jinx. anyway, i'd say the only thing that's helping me right now, is, (as cliche as it may sound), that i'm on my own path. me and the person next to me do not live the same lives, so it's completely okay to feel like im 'falling behind' when i compare. i've found it best not to compare and just work towards my goals, even when im not motivated, because of course you're not gonna feel motivated 24/7, life gets in the way. for the plans part, id say try your best to old yourself accountable, weather it be setting reminders, reward systems, etc, and follow a routine.
