Someone once asked...
Someone answered with kindness...
I will be as honest and true to you as can be. As long as you work hard to meet your goals and never settle for mediocrity, you are doing well. If you aspire to be great, and show up every day -- being consistent -- to whatever it is you hope to accomplish, you are doing great. A wise man once said: "If you wanna be a shoemaker, be the best." Don't stop at being good at what you do, seek to improve, in and out of work, and find whatever opportunities there are to be better situated from where you are initially. When you try and find something, you'll have better chances than you'd get from just passively waiting for it. That's as far as I can go career wise. Now, regarding your personal grievances... Something seems to be bugging you about the conception you have of yourself. You feel like you are not enough. It is important though, to know that, while working dignifies us (in the terms that it gives us a sense of purpose and self sufficiency), it does not define us. Who you are as a person goes way beyond your career. Who you are as a person is not the labor you produce. Your family supports you because they recognize this in you, there are traits of you that they love, that they appreciate, that make them want to support you, to have faith in you, and be with you. You need to start seeing those things in yourself too. You can start by getting rid of the scrolling issue. If you scroll on Instagram Reels, see if you can switch to another app to chat with your friends. If you don't even use Instagram for that, then delete it. Another option is to look for apps that provide Instagram but without the Reels (you can look for this yourself) or that limit your screen time. Why do I suggest this? Short-form content fucks up our brain's natural way to produce happiness. After scrolling, we feel gloomy, we feel horrid. This is the first step to feeling better emotionally in this day and age. Next, practice healthy habits. Keep a routine where you wake up early and go to sleep early as well, where you make your bed and tidy your room, where you take a nice long shower, and also where you find yourself some time to go for a walk. Going on walks soothes the brain and lets you think better. Geniuses of history actually used to go on walks to clear their minds and process things. When you have those things done, if you are religious, then integrate yourself further into your belief. This is of great comfort. Now, whether you are or are not religious, I suggest you pick up the reading habit. For whatever it is you may be going through, read Ryan Holiday. He is an amazing author who follows Socratic philosophy. Any book of his is great. You can look around and find anything that may help you. Lastly, see the world with a child's eyes. There is much more to what you see than first meets the eye. There is so much beauty, everywhere, that we don't stop ourselves to let appreciate. There is so much more to the world than we let ourselves believe. The world doesn't end at money, or any other material comforts. The world has beautiful people, beautiful landscapes, art, music, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, parks, beaches, beautiful clouds that paint the sky, winds that comfort the sultry, and sun that warms the bleak. Go out there and experience the world. Tap into it, and to yourself. Be grateful for what you have, and cherish the people around you. Love unapologetically, and never give up. Don't let yourself down. I promise, everything will be okay. Each day is a blessing you can deny or accept. Let yourself wake up each day and cherish that blessing. Stay safe :)
