Someone once asked...

If religion has been seen to cause so much suffering over the years, why are people still drawn to it?

Someone answered with kindness...

I think there are many examples in the world where a small amount of people have, with their own malicious intent, given a bad image to a greater good. Similarly, just because certain people have represented something badly doesn't mean that the thing they have represented is actually bad. People have the ability to use anything to get their own malicious desires met if they can bend it in some way. Look at Jesus Christ for example. His teaching are good, not harmful to those who follow it. In fact, it was meant to lead people to have genuine care for each other. But instead, many have twisted and used those same teachings in ways for their own benefit or selfish desires. As another example to this outside of what is commonly called "religion", imagine with me a charity that is meant to help those in poverty. Let's say that some of the members of that charity run it well for a while and then start using most of the money gained from it for themselves, so causing those who were meant to benefit from the charity to suffer. The same idea can be applied to many different types of environments. In fact, again looking at Jesus Christ, he often called out those known as "Pharisees", often calling them hypocrites and noting that they misuse the authority they have been given for their own selfish desires. The same thing has happened over and over again throughout history, and will probably keep repeating until it physically can't anymore. Jesus himself died under the hands of the so-called "religious" leaders of his time, but he was only doing good and teaching others to do the same.

Only suffering for some?

This sign has found its fate.
