Someone once asked...

“I think I like this girl in my office. So she's been on the same floor for a long time, and I have had the biggest crush on her for a very long time. Recently I got to know that she's going to move to a different team, so I finally mustered the courage to go talk to her. She is actually very very sweet. We have a great banter. Yes we've been talking for almost every day since I first spoke. She even cried in front of me one day, because she was feeling very overwhelmed. I tried comforting her, and that's that. She is giving a very important exam soon, and it's a lot of pressure for her. So just to motivate her, I designed a fake certificate in her name, to motivate her. We kept talking after that too. But then after that day she casually said that she shares everything with "him" - supposedly a boyfriend. She had a very convincing story of who he is, what he does and all that. But then, she's still talking to me the same way. Sometimes even initiating the conversation herself, but then casually drops in "his" mention every now and then. She is not giving me a name though. After that certificate incident, she herself shared her contact number with me, saying let's talk there, and then she said in a serious tone, that she appreciates me listening to her rant, and that I give good vibes so she talked to me, but the certificate was not needed, and that I should not do that again. I apologised, and said I won't do that again. Then she said, we don't have to make the conversation awkward. and started back to our banter. Then casually dropped "his" reference again. I don't know, if she's just trying to push me away, or testing me, or does she really have a partner. FYI, she is actually the perfect person I have met, she actually check off every single box I ever laid out for my partner - most of the non-negotiables, atleast on paper, from our conversations so far. and trust me, we have spoken like a decent lot. I don't know what do I do. I texted her on the contact number, since she is visiting home for some days, but now the chat is kind of cold. I understand she is with family after a long time, and also it's her exam and she's stressed. Should I try striking a conversation at all, or leave it altogether. What do I do?”

It’s better to come clean about how you feel and confront her. Or I’d if she continues to give you mixed signals, better to distance yourself from her than let your feeling grow one sided and getting your hopes up.
