Someone once asked...

“I once lent a huge amount to my best friend who needed it. I assured her she can pay me back whenever she can. Now I hear from her roommate that she has not paid rent in months and has borrowed money from her too. However, she has a stable, well-earning job. I thought she must be in some trouble and just asked her normally how her situation was and she straight up lied to me that SHE'S paying the whole rent, and not the roommate. I know she's lying because the roommate has receipts. Now I am in a very bad position financially and I'm not sure how to ask her to pay back in a way that doesn't fracture our relationship. To provide more context, my parents have borrowed a lot from their friends, and without their help and understanding, we wouldn't have been able to come out of the debt situation. I want to be that kind friend that my father has had. But I need my money too.”

Someone answered with kindness...

Whatever you are going through if you don't show it to the other person, the situation won't improve. Hi, kind friend...being kind doesn't always mean draining or loosing urself in order to built others. Things are tough for you, take a deep breathe, go to her & emotionally say everything that how much you need your money back, also don't forget to mention that how you were there when she needed help but you are not feeling the same effort at the end of the string that needs to be held. I think not keeping everything in urself just for the sake of the other person & let the darkness consume you, telling them the crystal clear circumstances is the best solution. And if she takes it in a bad way & don't try helping you out, she was never a good friend to keep around.
