Someone once asked...

“I have been using this website named OmeTV for a while now. I'm an Indian woman in her 20s and I'm conventionally good looking. Fair skin, dark hair, petite frame, and a pretty face to go with it. I have been wanting to date a Korean guy, but I don't have the means or any budget to go to Seoul to do that irl. I tried looking for one on Hinge and ended up finding a few. It was like lousy numbers like 10-12 men. But atleast it wasn't zero. However, on OmeTV, I witnessed their love reactions and 95% of them skipped me within a second. Especially my ethnicity is looked down upon. I experience so much racism even from other countries in spite of being fair skinned and conventionally good looking. I am unable to comprehend if it's my looks or my ethnicity that's resulting in such a godly amount of skips in Korea. It's humbling, but it even stings to know that I might never get with a Korean guy because I might not be desirable in their eyes. What doesn't make sense to me is that my Hinge experience has been relatively pleasant and reassuring. I mean I even got on facetime with a Korean guy and he wanted to meet me badly. So why was the experience so dramatically different. I'm unable to understand where I stand with Korean men anymore. Their beauty standards are cutthroat and they are harsher in general. But I still wanna know what the whole picture is and if I should give up on the idea of finding a Korean boyfriend.”

Someone answered with kindness...

You shouldn't think of ethnicity when choosing a lover. Their heart matters the most. Can you look into your heart and wonder why you have that specific criteria? Perhaps unraveling the desire can give you some peace. If it still bothers you, then perhaps you can look for a person who has similar features who fit your ideal type. Not necessarily Korean
