Someone once asked...

“I have a difficult relationship with my dad, he’s this narcissist chauvinist person and my mom is his victim but she’s hesitant to do a divorce and when i look back the guy has been manipulating me about everything and he even made my sister to spy on me and so on. But my breaking point was when he came to my stay during my trip (only my mom knew about the trip) only to shout at me and create all drama claiming he was afraid of me and wanted to take me home which I refused and i continued the trip. After this incident we don’t talk to eo and this continues till today. This silent treatment is no surprise to me sonce he had been doing this since my childhood and the only way to come out of it is - i have to say sorry for something I have or haven’t (mostly) done. My dad only cares for his mother and he even said “you’ll get a second wife and kids but not your mom”. And now i have immense hate towards him and I don’t want him in my life anymore. I’m a girl in my early 20s idk how things with him will be in another 10 years specifically during my wedding(when it happens). My mom doesn’t have a stand on her own and she won’t divorce him. I love my mom even though she drive me nuts and ragebaits me but living in a home along woth my dad is really affecting me. It will take a couple more months till i move out for work but its really worrying me , even the slightest presence of him. What do i do? How to survive this?”

I completely understand. Unfortunately the only way is to make peace with it. Once you are stable in your life you can maybe bring your mom to stay with you but with what I have seen around. The men usually start having affairs atp or the women are not at peace as they have left their home alone. The only way you can survive this is to make peace with and try to give comfort or do things to make your mom happy. Men are pigs and unfortunately men rarely change. I have seen men treat their family like shit. But go have affairs and treat that family like the ideal husband. So my advice for you is to never cut off completely. That’s giving them the key for their happiness. And in turn sadness to your mother. Mothers have been in this mentality for way too long hence it is v difficult for them to change. Things for you to survive - you need to move out asap. Extremely important for your mental health. Then you might struggle with guilt for leaving your family that way. Soon you’ll make peace with it. Then probably you can get your mom to stay with you for a short period of time. The key here being you need to understand what is in your hand and what isnt. And understand that completely and only start to worry about what is in your hand and what you can change. Your father might not change now as they’re too old, old habits rarely change. Their frontal lobe is fully developed. So yhink about what little things you can do to make them happy or calmer. Sorry if this was harsh, hope you feel better soon.
