“I feel alone in a world that values social conformity over authenticity
I want to preface this post by saying I’m not lonely, but alone.
I have learnt to value being alone and love it. But I can’t help but also want to meet people who think in a similar way to me and value authenticity over the constant exhausting social performance script and ritual most of the world run on.
There’s probably only one person in my life who isn’t afraid to just show up as themselves. I find the whole male bravado of being loud and over the top exhausting.
I just really want to meet others where it doesn’t feel like a constant competition for who’s the loudest or funniest and where not needing to seek validation is actually what’s accepted.
Ever since I started living this way for myself I’ve become a way more confident and strong person and mentally I am very calm and grounded. I feel like most people socially are in survival mode. Yet that style of socialising seems respected more by society than just being you.
I am happy in my own space, but I always wonder where the other people similar to me are. This may be a hard one to relate on. But I hope I find some people in here who do relate.”
