Someone once asked...
Someone answered with kindness...
The best thing you can do for yourself is probably a few things: 1: Build a support network around yourself of other family members who are more understanding, or friends who you can share with. Building those relationships will take a little bit of time, but they will be worth it because you can talk through your troubles and sometimes receive financial help. 2: Forgive your parents and let go. Holding resentment can feel comforting sometimes, but it can make you bitter and angry, which can negatively affect your mental health. Just a note: Forgiveness is not absolving them of responsibility; it is saying that you hold no resentment. They still have to face the consequences of not having a deep or meaningful relationship with you, but you will be able to be happier and more content in being your own person. 3: There is nothing you can do about your past, but there is always something you can do about your future! You have done so much by going through medical school; it is a big undertaking, and being in your final year shows your determination and resilience! Recognise how much potential and greatness you have! Give to others who are in your same situation, comfort them and break the cycle of bitterness, become the role model and friend you would have dearly wished for in your life! I hope everything goes well for you. Please remember to always be kind to yourself and to others, and never give up!
