Someone once asked...

“I always have the feeling I'm not good enough. In everything. School (Even though I have A's in all of my classes), swim team (I started when I was 11. Everyone else started at like 5), choir and band (I always leave halfway through, having a panic attack, and I still can't get a key skill that even younger players can), socially (I have ADHD and it makes it difficult to connect with others) and I could go on. I have medications I take for adhd and anxiety/depression, but they don't really help with this specific area. I know I need more self esteem, I've heard it from a million different doctors, therapists, counselors, etc, but I can't get myself to make that change.”

Someone answered with kindness...

Take it easy on yourself my friend, life can be challenging sometimes, we've all been there. With the social media age we see a lot of peoples highlight reels and it might appear that everyone has it all figured out, but the truth is, no one really does. My tips would be to log out of social media, get some more sleep, eat better and start to exercise, and be patient with yourself. And set yourself some small goals, goals that you would be proud of yourself for achieving, even if you could tell no one about them. I wish you all the best!

The weird (and kinda stupid) thing about self esteem is it, in a way, is a reflection of your own words. What I mean is that if you tell yourself that you're pretty/handsome enough times, you'll start to believe it, and your self esteem will rise. So, this sounds dumb, but just try saying good things about yourself every day. Maybe every morning, write in a journal all of your positive traits (and think genuinely about this! Don't just write something generic, write something meaningful and believable!), and read them out loud to yourself. It'll take a while, and it won't be easy, but your self esteem will rise. Also, if it helps, I think it's so incredible that you can do all of these things. Getting straight A's while being in choir, band, and a sports team is seriously no easy feat, and yet you're doing it! I think that's so cool, and something not everyone can do like you can! Don't sell yourself short on that end just because you're not perfect at these things. Good luck!
