Someone once asked...
Someone answered with kindness...
I think u need to understand something u're allowed to acknowledge that someone is better than u at something without automatically making that a statement about ur own worth or capabilities...I feel like u've developed a habit of looking at urself through the lens of everything u lack, everything u haven't achieved and everything someone else is doing better. And when u repeatedly do that, ur brain starts treating ur own existence like a constant evaluation. u're never good enough because the moment u achieve something, you find someone who's already achieved more but u need to understand that comparison is a very unfair way of measuring urself. u're comparing ur everyday life, ur struggles, ur insecurities and ur unfinished progress to somebody else's visible achievements. U don't even have the full picture, yet u're using it to judge urself and the concerning part is that it's now affecting ur studies. This is where I want u to be careful. When u're constantly criticising urself, u create so much mental pressure that even sitting down to study starts feeling like another opportunity to prove whether u're good enough. u become scared of not doing well, u overthink, u procrastinate or lose concentration, and then u criticise urself for that too. It's a cycle. I don't want you to stop having expectations from urself. I want u to stop treating every mistake, every bad day and every slow phase as evidence that u're not capable. Start small Like when u catch urself comparing, ask urself whether this thought is actually helping u improve or whether u're just using it to hurt urself. Set academic goals based on UR current position, not somebody else's progress. Measure urself by what u're learning, what u're improving and the effort u're putting in. And please, don't wait until you become the version of yourself you think is worthy of appreciation to start treating yourself kindly. You can be ambitious and still be kind to yourself. You can acknowledge your weaknesses without making them your entire identity. I'm not saying all this because I think you should settle for less. I'm saying it because I want you to reach your potential without destroying your confidence in the process. You don't have to be the best person in the room to be someone who is doing well. And you don't have to earn the right to feel good about yourself through academic performance... XOXO
