I think it depends on the context. As a fairly independent person, I try to reduce it, but as a human, I know it's vital to build a community. Shared pain is half the pain. Shared joy is twice the joy.

I think naturally humans are very social creatures so we already require a lot of social interaction, and we also require parents to help us grow, but other than that, you really don't need to depend on much just be yourself and do the things you want to do.

As little as you can. For me I think the ability to make your own decisions is based off of how well you're able to deal with the consequences yourself
