Someone once asked...

“How do you move on from someone you still love, even after they made you feel like you were never enough? It’s been almost a week since my girlfriend and I broke up after three years together. I thought I’d be able to handle it better, but I really can’t. I miss her a lot, especially at night. During the day, I keep myself busy, but once I’m alone, all the memories come rushing back. I was always the one making efforts, trying to spend time together, starting conversations and asking for attention. Sometimes it felt like I had to beg for the smallest things. I knew it wasn’t healthy, and there were so many times I felt hurt and unwanted, but I kept holding on because I loved her. Now that it’s over, I don’t know what to do. The strange thing is, I don’t even miss how I was treated, I just miss her. I miss talking to her, having her around and just knowing she was part of my life. I keep hearing that I should focus on myself and move on, but how do you actually do that when you still love the person? I genuinely don’t know how to get past this, and I guess I just wanted to hear from people who’ve been through something similar.”
