ask directly what they mean when they say something offensive? ask verbatim why they are trying to make you feel lesser, and if that makes them feel better about themselves... But always remember that exiting the conversation should always be an option and if you feel like it isn't, you need to do some reprioritizing

Bully them back. Hit them where they feel it. No matter how personal, you have to go. My fave is to make them feel like they are making a clown of themself. BTW I was never bullied. Some try, but no luck.
