Someone once asked...

How do I make peace with my past?

Someone answered with kindness...

A man once told me he still argued, in his head, with a version of himself from fifteen years ago — replaying decisions, rewriting what he should have said. I asked him what that fifteen-years-ago version of him actually knew at the time. Less than he knows now, obviously. You're not at peace with your past when you've proven it was right. You're at peace with it when you stop asking a younger, less informed version of yourself to have known better. He did what he could with what he had. So did you.
