Someone once asked...

How do I find hope again?

Someone answered with kindness...

An old woman once told me she'd stopped hoping for big things — a cure, a reunion, a happy ending — and started hoping for small, almost embarrassingly small things instead. A good cup of tea. One kind conversation. A quiet morning. I asked if that felt like giving up. "No," she said. "It felt like hope learning to walk again after a long illness. Small steps first." Hope doesn't always return as a single bright feeling. Sometimes it comes back one modest reason at a time, until one day you notice you're looking forward to something again, without quite remembering when that started.
