Oh, it's an illusion of modern society. We tend to show only our success and hide what was lost along the way. For example, I can present myself as a succeeded musician. Red diploma, long years of training. I won't tell how introverted I became, how I lack most social skills because of long hours after school, when others had fun or did homework. I didn't get into university. That looks like fail, doesn't it? Yet I earn a lot now. Much more then my siblings and it's all because of a simple chance my boss gave me. If she haven't, I don't know where I would be. Just start. Life will make it work. Everything you do matterr and there are no mistakes - just life. Start with something you enjoy.

I experience this too. I don't think it's about ego...it's just that strange feeling that comes when you think you've dug your way to this point and you think you're good enough, but then you see someone else seem better than you. I know how a bad feeling this is. But..try to care what you do, not what they do. In short, if you look at someone else's flower garden, your own will slowly wither.
