Someone once asked...

How can I be as patient with myself as I am with others? If I'm too forgiving with myself don't I risk becoming complacent?

Someone answered with kindness...

Being patient does not mean being indulgent, much as being impatient does not mean being severe. Be firm and insistent with yourself, as you want to be, so as not to be too complacent. But also be kind to yourself, as you want to be, so as not to unduly punish whom you'd love, care for, and nurture.

Another soul answered...

Change your framing from "forgiving" to "accepting". You can make mistakes and not "forgive them" but "accept" that they existed. Adn then deal with them according to your prioritie. For example, If I did a small screw up at work, I don't have to "forgive myself" for naking it, but I cna accept I made it, accept that fact and move on, maybe it wasn't important and that's that. And maybe you accept you did it and work on it for future times. Do not dwindle on blaming your past self for it, bur trather look for your next opportunity. Same thing with other people. Being too forgiving is complicated, if you accept and adjust your future behavior to it you don't get stressed by it as much. Meaning, if someone wrongs you, you don't jhave to forgive them entirely, you can accept and trust them less accordingly, and accept that reality. Works for me.
