Someone once asked...

How am I supposed to live my life when I've suffered from fear, distrust (possibly even full on paranoia) of everyone around for me so long and so deep that it genuinely feels like (possibly is) a fundamental part of me as a person now? Especially when people feel closer to monsters hidden in plain sight, things to cope with instead of bond and connect to?

Someone answered with kindness...

I don’t have an answer to this except to say I can relate to it and you’re not alone with that. If you get away from toxic people, there are people out there who mean well, try to be kind, and at least won’t hurt you intentionally. That doesn’t make it easy to connect when you’ve had so many negative experiences; but if you can choose those people instead of the toxic ones to be in your life, at least it hurts less and can come to be a little less terrifying over time.
