Someone once asked...

“HI, I'm 21 very young just graduated last year with a degree I never chose. I went through a lot during my college times and most of them was arguing with my parents regarding my degree as it had little to no value in the real world based on where I wanted to land jobs in and the companies they made me manage. After graduating my parents wanted me to work hard on understanding the application thoroughly to the point where I would barely get any sleep as I had to deal with managing the team in the night and having meetings in the morning. I have no decision in this company it's just mainly my father's final decisions so I don't even have a voice in ideas. These schedules and everything messed up my brain so bad that I've constantly had brain fog since that time and my health went down the drain. I landed a job 3 months after graduating very prestigious my life's set type. It was one that my dad told me to apply to which I did and got. Once I got it although I put in the work to get it my father was credited as the reason I got it. It was a very good paying, good benefits, and stable job that would last for my entire life I was set. I had a probationary period for 1 year and last week marked my last as I failed it. I loved this job I worked hard from the moment I got it as there were skill gaps. But at the same time I had to work on my parents projects still. They created another company and I was expected to work on it as a learning experience and no matter how much I denied I still had to do it. So I was working on those companies while putting in the hours for my job in the night and doing my best to stay afloat and although the initial review was bad but the next two reviews I got were great leading up to the last one. I never got support from my parents they brushed me off even when I asked for help. So I started relying on myself which turned out somewhat okay. In the middle of all of this they planned 2 big trips and even more smaller trips we were going somewhere every weekend. Which messed with my project timelines and yes I refused very hard again but with no choice. I still did my best no sleep went to office a lot more even though it's a remote position. I gained my managers trust during this time. But after that things started going downhill as I started to get very burnt out and we had a big fight after one of the big trips as I was frustrated and wanted to move out. I don't have my own room so my sleep is poor with my parents making a lot of noise. I'm expected to help my brother with his job seeking and resume creations, I'm expected to work on my parents companies. During our fight as I went to the office more regularly to fit in with the environment more, my parents forbade me from going as they assumed that I was having an affair with my manager and that it wasn't "right". I started staying at home more, my communication dropped really bad, my work dropped bad and I agree that from then on I started to drop in my performance. I managed three projects from the first two I gained trust but with the last one I lost it all as I didn't follow certain best practices and yes it was muddled with bad UI and everything which is 100% on me. But as the project timeline came to an end my manager removed me from it seeing the bad work and assigned it to another colleague with whom I worked on the project with. From that point I went back to the project I gained trust on and refined it completely per the feedback I got and I had a revival however from that point I've noticed that my manager didn't want to give me more work and was being distant in terms of projects and in general I could feel a gap that I couldn't bridge no matter. Which led to last week which I thought was a normal meeting but was met with an HR individual for which they took the possessions and led me out. I am devastated cause I loved that job wholeheartedly I still love it. Now my parents keep blaming me and calling me a failure and my sibling got a job recently and they're being very hands on helping him and all the support they never gave me. I'm really frustrated cause I know I can't get that job back and it was my saving grace but I never even got a chance to explain myself and redeem myself. I don't know what to do right now I've just been applying to more jobs and everything but I'm expected to put more focus on my sibling's position than myself. If there was any possible way I would happily jump back into the job I would but it's all gone now and I'm just lost in terms of feeling and everything.”
