Someone once asked...

“Good evening, I need your advice. I’ve been with a man for a year. At first, everything was great, but for the past three months or so, he changed completely and became very negative. I suspected he was cheating on me, and eventually, I got confirmation—he was talking to other women. When I confronted him about it, he told me that a woman is supposed to be submissive. When I brought this up with my mother, she blamed me instead, asking why I had gone through his phone in the first place. That hurt so much. I want to add that whenever there’s an issue, he is extremely proud, ignoring and snubbing me. In the end, I packed all my things from his place and dropped off his keys while he was away. I’m in so much pain right now because I still love him. Please, what should I do?”

Someone answered with kindness...

You did the right thing. It will be hard to maintain yourself in this position, but you've chosen correctly: yourself. No man is worth the aggravation, or so the song goes. It'll be hard for a while, but you will thank yourself in the long run. Live life, get busy.

Another soul answered...

"I’m in so much pain right now because I still love him. Please, what should I do?" Nothing. Breathe. You are doing great. I admire your courage and the respect you have for yourself and your life. I'm sure leaving him wasn't easy. You did it! Hold on a minute, breathe and feel pride, pain and how calm everything inside you feels when you breathe out, slowly. Sometimes, when we love someone and that love may turn into grief. That can be an absurdly painful kind of love, because it's confusing and might leave you feeling angry, alone, torn. The love you feel for him is allowed to be there, but it shouldn't make you betray yourself. And with time, it will fade into something else. Perhaps it won't be love anymore but a sigh and a shrug and a "That was truly something.. Not quite sure what it was, but anyway, I'm so much happier now." Analyse and name the things that make you feel joy. Start from when you were a young girl and find something for every stage in life. Pre school, highschool, 20's, 30's and so on. Take yourself on a date. Cry, a lot. Find something that makes you laugh. Feel anger and pain. Don't surpress your feelings, but do always find back to yourself and what really matters. You are a flower. You need good soil, sun, pure water and lot's of little friends who visit you and help you stay strong and grow. You got this. As a woman who has left a relationship in which my partner cheated on me: I feel you and I am immensely proud of you. You're doing good. Much love and all the best! xx
