Someone once asked...

“Drink water with or without electrolytes a whole 18 hours before a long run? Are electrolytes only useful during/after running, or valuable a day prior?”

✦

Someone answered with kindness...

Only useful after or during a run. Exercise causes the depletion of sodium in your body. If you consume excess sodium without exercising then you'll just pee it out.

I don't think it matters that much unless you're a professional athlete. Most people get enough electrolytes through food. Supplement if you want them I guess? I don't think it's worth worrying about.
