U do get to choose what u love. If it's giving u happiness with no doubt and not destroying you in that present situation or in long term... Go for it. It's ur life and u get to choose wt will work out for u. You don't need to pretend for others. Do it... if it's a correct choice u'll not have any regret and if it's a wrong choice..it's fine! U learnt something from that..it'll be one of ur life lesson.
