artificial superintelligence? Depends on the definition. "Artificial superintelligence (ASI) is a hypothetical software-based artificial intelligence (AI) system with an intellectual scope beyond human intelligence" - IBM. If you go by this definition, then it will be a while. "Beyond the scope" meaning more advanced than ANY human. Current AI is but a compressed imitation of humans and therefore not beyond the SCOPE of human intelligence. That does not mean that AI within the scope of human intelligence is not useful. In my opinion ASI would require a different architecture than the current transformer model mostly used today. Finding this new architecture could happen tomorrow or never. If i had to go with my gut then more than a decade, but i do not work with AI so my opinion is near worthless.
