Someone once asked...

A 50+ year social community I’m part of is being ripped apart by a combination of interpersonal conflict, ego, and the endless winds of change. As someone trying unsuccessfully to hold it together, how can I cope with the grief?

Someone answered with kindness...

Grief is the hardest question. Humanity has faced many collapses of greater scales. No records ever survived of what it was like, trying to hold together the last fragments. But it is what a good person does. Trust me. It is the same everywhere I saw, too. And I crossed continents. The modern world only continues in peace because of love and endurance. Thank you.

Accept that sometimes you can't or might not be supposed to hold it all together.

Build an outline of who has conflicts with who because of what. Infinite outliner like Dynalist are perfect & free for this. Map out everyone, list out their 'beefs' & reasons. In an afternoon you should be able to 1. Build a visual representation of your community. 2. List out what you at this point are their motivations. Next step: Look at your outline in mindmap mode, print it out and then circle whom you can reasonably target. Your first targets should be nodes/easy pickings. Folks that whose issues you can reasonably make attempts to build communal with, but who have an outsized impact. Every community has one - nodes. Create a seperate list for these nodes. And make an outreach. Repeat the cycle. Repeat the cycle.
