Someone once asked...

“A 20 year old someone. Living in abusive household, self esteem does shatter. Does it actually get better? I feel that everyone is doing better. I'm just struck. I already assume the negative that I'll be hated. I feel shaky hands when establishing a boundary. I feel that I've to do everything or I'm not worthy enough. Read everything, Learn to drive, finances - I don't know how to do this one thing. Does it get better? The persistent feeling of feeling dumb? Feeling scared of everything?”

Someone answered with kindness...

Another soul answered...

Yes, it does indeed get better. I am 17 rn and I'm living in an abusive household rn too, and I'm planning on moving out next year for my degree and going on a path that takes me away from family with each step. I may not know exactly how close you may be with your family or how your financial situation may be, but yeah if you can manage to move out, it will be much much better, especially if you have a friend or a partner who will be there for you after you've moved out. And try not to assume the worst as well, it is natural for you to assume the worst when your own family hasn't really been kind to you and have been abusive, but it won't be the case all the time. It may be different in other scenarios outside your family as well, I'm not trynna say to be optimistic about everything, I'm just asking to not to assume the worst everytime alrr?? Anything can happen good or bad and most of the time, it's not in our hands. And just because you make mistakes doesn't mean that you should be hated. All of us are human beings and we all make mistakes and it's completely fine to make mistakes too, it's what makes us human, and no one should be hated on for that if they're willing to fix the mistakes they have made. And yeah it can be incredibly challenging to set a boundary in an abusive household id say, and I honestly do not know how to answer this part tbh. And you do not have to overexert yourself and try to make your self feel worthy either, you're still incredible even if you are a simple human being. And it's a different things if you're developing and learning things out of your own interests and curiosity, then that's absolutely fantastic, but forcefully having to do it just to feel worthy is not healthy id say. People have to be more understanding of each other really and no one should be made to prove their worth either. The persistsnt feeling of being dumb may arise because sometimes we just don't have control over our lives because of our families control. And sometimes you may make mistakes too which makes you feel dumb even tho you are not dumb. The feeling of low self worth and feeling like you're dumb is mostly just the depression speaking, you're truly worth way more than you realise, believe me. And I won't really blame you for feeling scared of everything either. It's completely valid considering how abusive your family has been to you, every action may feel like it could cause something to go wrong or they may take it the wrong way or something like that. But this is your life, you're an adult and you have the right to do a lot of things you want, and it's absolutely not right from your family that they're treating you like this. And i really hope that you'll be able to move out of the abusive household and have a much much better life outside. And i also hope that my messages helped you too, wishing you all the best in everything in life. Stay happy, stay peak, stay goated twin :D
